COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to give students the opportunity to gain knowledge in the specific area of Adolescent Psychology as it relates to the developmental stages and how teenagers learn. Special attention is given to the educational strategies and unique framework necessary in constructing a highly effective, comprehensive, and age appropriate student ministry.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course each student will:
- Be able to identify the stages of psychological develop as it relates to teenagers.
- Understand the important role educational psychology plays in building a successful and effective balanced student ministry.
- Be able to evaluate adolescent ministry curriculum and programs with the ability to make adjustments towards age appropriate content, programming, and resources.
- Be introduced to resources and strategies that will provide long-term assistance in effective youth bible education.
- Have a basic understanding and appreciation for building a comprehensive successful youth
ministry that includes a sound educational, psychological, and developmental approach to healthy student ministry.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Complete all required online assignments.
- Complete a seven (7) page book report covering the assigned text book: How We Learn: A Christian Teacher’s Guide to Educational Psychology.
The report should contain:- Your overview and synthesis of each chapter’s content,
- Your evaluation of the book,
- You’re closing thoughts including the importance educational psychology makes in ministry to students.
The report must be single spaced with one inch margins and 12 point Times Roman font.
